Upcoming Fundraising Events for Sierra LaMar

There are multiple events taking place Thursday through Saturday geared toward raising funds for the missing teen's ongoing search efforts.

Upcoming Fundraising Events for Sierra LaMar

It’s now been almost 50 days since Morgan Hill teen Sierra LaMar, 15, went missing, and several fundraising events have been planned to aid search efforts for the Sobrato High cheerleader.

The community support fueling numerous searches for Sierra has allowed family members to posts fliers of Sierra on BART trains, and has allowed them to offer a $25,000 reward to the first person who provides info leading police to the missing teen, among other things.

Here's a list of upcoming fundraisers that will benefit the Sierra LaMar Fund:

What: SAFETY AND DEFENSE AWARENESS IN HONOR OF SIERRA LAMAR

When/Where: The class is Thursday, May 3 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Ann Sobrato High School, located at 401 Burnett Ave., Morgan Hill.

Why Go: Men, women, boys, and girls, ages 6 and up are encouraged to participate in a self defense awareness class. Morgan Hill Police Sgt. Troy Hoefling and a few other officers will speak with the community about any concerns they may have, and will talk about keeping our community safe. Mark Preader, owner of West Coast Martial Arts, and some of his instructors will give a presentation on self defense and provide the audience with some basic tools they can use if needed.

Price: A donation of $10 is suggested.

What:

When/Where: Holy Spirit Parish Hall,  located at 37588 Fremont Blvd. in Fremont.  Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling 510-376-0447 or 510-377-2558.

Why Go: Organizers are hoping to attract about 500 attendees to the event, which will have live entertainment, pasta donated from four restaurants and a raffle. In addition to raising funds to man the search center, the pasta feed is being held to ensure Sierra’s face remains in the public’s eye, and to hopefully encourage more volunteers to participate.
Price: A donation of $20 is requested for adults, $15 for children ages 5 through 12, and $5 for children ages 4 and under.

What: GUGLIELMO WINERY SILENT AUCTION AND RAFFLE
When/Where: Saturday, May 5, from 5  to 9 p.m., at Guglielmo Winery, located at 1480 East Main Ave., Morgan Hill.
Why Go: Enjoy wine, food, music, a silent auction and raffle to support Sierra LaMar. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Sierra LaMar Fund.
Price: Tickets are $40 per person. Call 408-710-8902 for tickets.
