Alleged DUI Driver Damages Glendora Home
An alleged drunk driver was arrested this morning after his truck left the road and struck a home on the corner of Bennett and Pennsylvania avenues, Sunday morning.

The crash happened around 1:38 a.m. in the 200 block of West Bennett Avenue. The vehicle crashed into the porch of the residence. The driver was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and was arrested, said Lieutenant Matt Williams of Glendora Police.

No injuries were reported, Williams said.

For reasons not immediately known, the truck left the road and crashed into the home, which is on the southwest corner of the intersection.

Resident Dan Murphy recalls the crash that damaged his home. He and his wife Lisa were asleep in their bedroom, which is in the middle of the home, when the accident happened.

"We were awakened this morning … to a couple loud crashes and the house shaking. A suspected drunk driver plowed his truck through our fence, smashed a tree and sent a one-quarter ton brick pillar crashing into our home," Murphy said.

The tree, measured at over 40 feet, was completely knocked over. The brick pillar crashed 30 feet through the front porch, Murphy said.

Murphy recorded the scene of the crash, a video of which is now on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq-QojCS9Xg

Arrested was Daniel Barron, 32, a Glendora resident, on suspicion of DUI and exceeding the legal blood-alcohol level. Barron is being held in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Also arrested was passenger Joel Ruvalcaba, 27, from Fontana, on suspicion of disorderly conduct from Alcohol. Ruvalcaba is being held in lieu of $250 bail.
