Glendora High Announced in Rose Parade Lineup

Glendora High’s Tartan Band and Pageantry is included in an international lineup of bands performing at the 2014 Tournament of Roses parade.

Glendora High School’s Tartan Band and Pageantry will be one of two Los Angeles county high school bands performing the 5 ½ mile course at the 2014 Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena on New Year’s Day.

Glendora High secured its spot in the Rose Parade after winning the Los Angeles County Fair’s 10th annual High School Marching Band Parade Competition Sept. 28. The other Los Angeles-area high school band to perform is the Los Angeles Unified School District All District High School Honor Band.

The 18 bands announced by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Associations includes bands hailing from Panama, Texas, Alaska, Alabama, Hawaii, Japan, New Orleans, Virginia, Minnesota, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. Two other bands – the bands from the universities to play in 2014 Rose Bowl – have yet to be determined.

Bands are selected based on a variety of criteria including “musicianship, marching ability and entertainment or special interest value.”

Bands must raise all necessary funds for travel and accommodations.

Selected bands also perform in one of three Bandfest events scheduled for Dec. 29 and 30, 2013, at Pasadena City College.

The Tournament of Roses Association is currently accepting band applications for the 2015 Rose Parade.
