Motorcycle Crash Victim Identified

Coroner's officials have identified the motorcycle rider killed in a weekend crash on Angeles Crest Highway.

Junior Estuardo Quic-Ortiz, 30, of Hawthorne died from multiple blunt injuries, Los Angeles County Coroner Assistant Chief Ed Winter said Tuesday. Quic-Ortiz was pronounced dead at the scene, just east of mile marker 63.37.

California Highway Patrol officers said alcohol was not a factor in the 1:30 p.m. collision that involved a second motorcycle and injured rider 45-year-old Patrick Ramirez of San Dimas.

According to the CHP, Quic-Ortiz was operating a 2000 Kawasaki ZR-7, Ramirez a 2000 Yamaha R6. Quiz-Ortiz was traveling westbound at an unknown speed while Ramirez was traveling eastbound at 40 miles per hour. At that point, for reasons Quic-Ortiz lost control of his motorcycle, was ejected and struck the second motorcycle.

Ramirez was thrown from his bike and slammed into the road. He suffered moderate injuries.
