Police Blotter: Burglaries, Pepper Spray and a Prowler

The following information was provided by the Glendora Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, April 23. Lt. Jamie Caldwell and Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

  • 6:06 a.m. - Authorities investigated a vehicle burglary report in the 1700 block of East Palopinto Avenue. Police learned nothing was taken in the incident and are trying to determine if it was a burglary attempt, or vandalism.
  • 6:42 a.m. - Police responded to a theft in progress call at , 1950 East Auto Centre Drive. Police arrested Douglas Cole, 18, on suspicion of burglary. Cole was held until a court appearance.
  • 6:48 a.m. - Authorities were called to , 1600 East Foothill Blvd. on a graffiti report. Several walls inside the gymnasium were defaced at an estimated cost of $400-$500 in damage, Caldwell said. Police have not identified a suspect as of yet.
  • 12:29 p.m. - Police were called to Elwood Avenue at Route 66. A woman entered the restaurant and left her car unlocked with her purse inside. When she returned and her purse was reportedly stolen, police said. A description of a possible suspect was provided: a male Hispanic, possibly 18-25 years old, fled in white Scion with a black top.
  • 1:22 p.m. - Officers were called to the 300 block of South Grand Avenue. A homeowner alleged the front door to their home was opened and a window screen was ajar. Authorities did not find anything taken from the home. The incident is still under investigation.


Tuesday, April 24. Lt. Jamie Caldwell and Sgt. Matt Egan on duty.

  • 9:46 a.m. - Glendora Police conducted a pedestrian check in the 600 block of North Vermont. Once officers tried to contact the subject, he fled and a short foot pursuit began. Police detained and arrested Joel Carpenter, 44, on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing an officer. Carpenter was held in lieu of $10,000 bail until he was released for a court appearance.
  • 11:55 a.m. - Authorities, while in the city of Covina, conducted a traffic stop on Fairvalley Avenue at Covina Blvd. Officers arrested Jerrod Ferren, 32, on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance for sale and receiving known stolen property. Ferren was held in lieu of $30,000 bail until released for a court appearance.
  • 12:18 p.m. - Police investigated a theft report in the 1200 block of South Lone Hill Avenue.
  • 12:28 p.m. - Officers responded to a reported at , 1140 South Barranca Avenue. About 15 students were allegedly involved in a fight, that started for unknown reasons. Five teens were arrested, but eventually cited and released to their parents.
  • 7:06 p.m. - Police investigated a battery report in the 1100 block of East Lemon Avenue.


Wednesday, April 25. Lt. Jamie Caldwell and Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

  • 7:19 a.m. - Police conducted a traffic stop on Petunia at Barranca avenues in Azusa and arrested Salvador Llamas, 46, on suspicion of driving without a license and failing to produce a license for officers. The driver was cited and released.
  • 1:10 p.m. - Authorities were called to Sierra High School on a disturbance call. Police arrested Mark Solarzano, 18, on suspicion of battery on school grounds. Solorzano was held until authorities felt there was insufficient evidence pursuant to Penal Code 849 b (1) and he was released.
  • 3:33 p.m. - Police investigated a burglary report in the 700 block of East Dover Street.
  • 4:32 p.m. - Police investigated a health and safety code violation in the 1200 block of South Willow Avenue and arrested Eric Garcia, 21, on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance. Garcia was cited and released.
  • 6:55 p.m. - Officers were called to , 655 South Grand Avenue, on reported transient problems. Officers arrested John Welch, 60, Donna Davis, 45, and Randy Primm, 52, on suspicion of trespassing. All subjects were eventually cited and released.

Thursday, April 26. Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Sgt. Mike Randazzo on duty.

  • 1:05 a.m. - Police were called to the 300 block of East Essex Street on a disturbance call. The caller alleged his 26-year-old daughter was verbally lashing out because her child was recently taken away by Child Services. Police arrested Ashley Hudak on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and control substance paraphernalia. Hudak was also booked on suspicion of driving without a license and was held in lieu of $35,000 bail until her release for a court appearance.
  • 7:09 a.m. - Authorities conducted a pedestrian check in the 400 block of East Arrow Highway and arrested Joseph Nicholson, 18, on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia and for violating the terms of his Florida juvenile court order. Nicholson was held without bail until his court appearance. Police also arrested Diego Francosalas, 24, on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. The latter was cited and released.
  • 8:40 a.m. - Police were called to the , 635 South Elwood Avenue. An undisclosed cab company reported their driver was by a young woman who refused to pay for the ride. Officers arrested Kayla St. Onge, 22, on suspicion of robbery and assault. St. Onge was held in lieu of $100,000 bail. Officers also arrested Blake Parra, 21, on suspicion of obstructing an officer. Parra eventually cited and released.
  • 5:58 p.m. - Police were  called to the on a theft report. The caller alleged their black and white Fixed-gear bicycle was stolen from the property.
  • 8:05 p.m. - Police were called to , 1301, South Lone Hill Avenue. The caller reported the occupants of a white van took bales of cardboard from the rear of the business. Police were unable to locate the suspect vehicle.

Friday, April 27. Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. James DeMond on duty.

  • 1:15 a.m. - Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 600 block of South Hunters Trail and arrested Jeffrey Juetten, 24, on suspicion of DUI and exceeding the blood-alcohol level. Juetten was eventually cited and released.
  • 3:15 a.m. - Police conducted a traffic stop on South Sunflower Avenue at Gladstone Street and arrested Marissa Stallardo, 29, on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance. Stallardo was cited and released.
  • 4:42 p.m. - Police investigated a Municipal Code violation in the 400 block of East Route 66 and arrested Shawn Furno, 44, on suspicion of disorderly conduct from alcohol. Furno was cited and released.
  • 8:34 p.m. - Police responded to an on Gladstone Street at Rimhurst Avenue. A car allegedly struck a pedestrian. No one was arrested after the incident.

Saturday, April 28. Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. James DeMond on duty.

  • 12:45 a.m. - Police responded to a vandalism in progress call in the 900 block of South Farber Avenue. The caller alleged an object was thrown through her front window.
  • 4:53 a.m. - Police conducted a traffic stop in the 1600 block of South Grand Avenue and arrested Musa Opiyo, 24, on suspicion of DUI and exceeding the legal blood-alcohol level. Opiyo was cited and released.
  • 5:12 a.m. - Authorities conducted a pedestrian check in the 1000 block of East Route 66 and arrested Daniel Hidalgo, 18, on suspicion of disorderly conducted from alcohol. Hidalgo was cited and released.
  • 10:42 a.m. - Police investigated a residential burglary report in the 1000 block of East Meda Avenue.
  • 1:31 p.m. - Officers investigated a theft report in the 1500 block of South Glendora Avenue.
  • 7:53 p.m. - Authorities conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of West Northridge Avenue and arrested Brian Hambright, 37, on suspicion of DUI and exceeding the legal blood-alcohol level. Hambright was eventually cited and released.

Sunday, April 29. Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. James DeMond on duty.

  • 9:13 a.m. - Police investigated a suspicious occupied vehicle in the 400 block of West Mauna Loa Avenue and arrested Vince Barajas, 46, on suspicion of DUI, exceeding the legal blood-alcohol level and obstructing a police officer. Barajas was cited and released.
  • 11:14 a.m. - Officers were searching for a in the 900 block of East Ada Avenue. Police eventually found and arrested 28-year-old Joseph Ecker, of Glendora, in the of East Myrtle Avenue. Ecker was booked on suspicion of prowling and for several outstanding warrants. He is being held without bail.
  • 11:20 a.m. - Authorities took a graffiti report in the 700 block of East Mauna Loa Avenue.
  • 4:21 p.m. - Police were called to , 105 West Arrow Highway on a vandalism in progress call. A customer allegedly became angry and kicked one of the doors, causing the glass to shatter because he did not get any sauce with his meal. Officers took a report.
  • 4:50 p.m. - Officers investigated a residential burglary report in the 700 block of South Pasadena Avenue.
  • 6:30 p.m. - Police were called to , 1305 South Lone Hill Avenue, on a theft in progress call. Store employees allege two suspects stole items from the gardening area and fled westbound on Gladstone in a gold van. Officers eventually pulled over the van in the area of Gladstone and Willow Avenue. Police arrested Myron Robinson, 31, and Shaleah Upshaw, 32, both on suspicion of burglary and receiving known stolen property. Robinson was additionally booked on suspicion of driving on a suspended license, while Upshaw was booked on a warrant. Upshaw was held in lieu of $30,000 bail, while Robinson was held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
