Local police activity for the week of Nov. 12 to Nov. 18.

Police Blotter: Theft, Grand Theft and Two Reported DUI Crashes

The following information was provided by the Glendora Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Nov. 12. Lt. Jamie Caldwell and Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

  • 7:45 a.m. - A traffic stop was conducted in the 800 block of West Galatea Street. The driver was arrested on suspicion of providing a false license, driving without a license and failure to provide a license to officers. The driver was cited and released.
  • 8:01 a.m. - A Theft in progress was reported at Mission Ace Hardware, 531 South Glendora Avenue. The manager phoned police, accusing a man of stealing a hammer. Arrested was Tracy Moss, 46, from Glendora. Moss was booked on suspicion of petty theft with a prior conviction and a parole hold. He was held without bail.

  • 11:22 a.m. - A report of indecent exposure was reported in the 600 block of West Route 66.
  • 6:58 p.m. - A vehicle burglary was reported in the 500 block of East Lemon Avenue. The intended victim was cleaning a residence at the location when a neighbor said a man on a bike attempted to open the door to her vehicle, but was unsuccessful. Police searched, but did not find the victim.

Tuesday, Nov. 13. Lt. Jamie Caldwell and Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

  • 1:52 a.m. - A grand theft auto report was made in the 1100 block of East Sierra Madre Avenue.
  • 6:55 a.m. - A theft report was made in the 700 block of East Sycamore Avenue.
  • 8:38 a.m. - A fight was reported in the 1000 block of East Juanita Avenue.
  • 6:23 p.m. - Police were called to assist fire fighters in the 800 block of West Route 66. A caller stated seeing a large amount of smoke in the area. Authorities located an illegal burn in a resident's backyard and extinguished it.
  • 9 p.m. - Suspicious circumstances were reported at Walmart, 1950 East Auto Centre Drive. Arrested was Sarah Bussey, 23, on suspicion of burglary. Bussey was released for a court appearance.

Wednesday, Nov. 14. Lt. Jamie Caldwell and Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

  • 2:53 a.m. - A traffic stop was conducted in the 1700 block of South Glendora Avenue. Police arrested Gary Camerena, 20, on suspicion of possessing controlled substance paraphernalia. Camerena was cited and released.
  • 1:47 p.m. - A theft in progress was reported at Mission Ace Hardware. Arrested was Margo Perez, 57, on suspicion of burglary. Perez was transferred to the Century Regional Detention Facility.
  • 5:56 p.m. - A theft in progress was reported at Stater Bros., 1830 East Route 66. Arrested was Koral Hults, 32, on suspicion of theft and an outstanding warrant. Hults was cited and released.
  • 7:04 p.m. - A theft in progress was reported at Old Navy, 1321 East Gladstone Street. The theft was part of a larger crime spree conducted in Glendora, Covina and Azusa.


Thursday, Nov. 15. Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. James DeMond on duty.

  • 4:04 a.m. - A vehicle burglary was reported in the 400 block of South Minnesota Avenue.
  • 7:19 a.m. - Grand theft was reported in the 100 block of North Verdugo Avenue.
  • 1:36 p.m. - A theft in progress was reported at Stater Bros. Arrested was Joe Camacho, 75, on suspicion of theft. Camacho was issued a citation and released.
  • 5:25 p.m. - A theft in progress was reported at Walmart. A man and woman caught the eye of loss prevention. The woman reportedly concealed merchandise in her purse. Police arrived and questioned both suspects, both of whom were eventually arrested. Police booked Angela Quijas,19, on an outstanding warrant. She was held in lieu of $50,000 bail. Michael Rodriguez, 28, was booked on suspicion of providing false identification to officers. Quijas was released for a court appearance, while Rodriguez was cited and released.
  • 6:55 p.m. - Police arrived to the 500 block of South Amelia Avenue on a report of a person down in the street. Police arrested Kerry Petzoldt, 56, on suspicion of disorderly conduct. Petzoldt was released after no further prosecution was desired.


Friday, Nov. 16. Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. James DeMond on duty.

  • 4:23 a.m. - A structure fire was reported in the 1500 block of South Burnaby Drive. A bathroom ceiling vent caught fire and ignited the attic. Fire fighters were forced to cut two holes in the roof to battle the blaze. The extent of damage was not immediately known.
  • 9:15 a.m. - A theft report was made in the 1100 block of East Route 66. Thanksgiving decorations were stolen, DeMond said.
  • 10:50 a.m. - Vandalism was reported in the 900 block of South Dodsworth Avenue.
  • 4:56 p.m. - Police responded to a disturbance in the 2000 block of East Route 66. A man was arguing with two women at the location. Arrested was Jared Miller, 24, on an outstanding warrant. Miller was held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
  • 7:19 p.m. - A commercial burglary was reported in the 700 block of West Route 66.

Saturday, Nov. 17. Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. James DeMond on duty.

  • 12:09 a.m. - A traffic stop was conducted in the 600 block of East Foothill Blvd. Officers arrested the 59-year-old driver on suspicion of DUI and exceeding the legal blood-alcohol level. The driver was issued a citation and released.
  • 2:02 a.m. - A traffic stop was conducted on South Glendora at Carroll avenues. The 24-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and exceeding the legal-blood alcohol level. The driver was cited and released.
  • 11:50 a.m. - A theft report was investigated in the 300 block of West Juanita Avenue. Sometime the previous night hand tools were taken from the resident's garage.
  • 3:37 p.m. - An injury collision was reported on East Gladstone Street at Willow Avenue. The driver of a white car jumped the curb and hit a cinderblock wall. The driver fled on foot.
  • 7:42 p.m. - A hit and run non-injury occurred on Glendora Avenue near Baseline Road. The driver jumped the curb, struck a light pole and chain link fence. The man took off with his young child and fled on foot.
  • 10:09 p.m. - A theft in progress was reported at Walmart. Police arrested Thomas Kelly, 44, Tracey Kelly, 52, Alfonso Moreno, 51, and Robert Sanchez, 42. Thomas and Sanchez were booked on suspicion of theft, Thomas was cited and released. Tracey was booked on suspicion of burglary, issuing a false check and was held in lieu of $20,000 bail. Moreno was booked on several outstanding warrants and was held without bail.

Sunday, Nov. 18. Sgt. Matt Egan and Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

  • 7:36 a.m. - Officers were called to assist paramedics in the 600 block of East Route 66. A report was taken.
  • 10:38 a.m. - A theft report was investigated in the 400 block of West Route 66.
  • 3:45 p.m. - A theft in progress occurred near Grand Avenue and Route 66. A woman accused a man of stealing money from her purse. Officers observed the man running past Ralphs and westbound on Route 66. Police detained the man at gunpoint and arrested Christopher Mitchell, 48, on suspicion of petty theft with a prior conviction, obstructing an officer and theft from an elder. Mitchell was eventually transferred to the Inmate Reception Center.
  • 5:48 p.m. - Police responded to a report of attempt suicide in the 800 block of West Foothill Blvd. Relatives became aware of the man's wounds and called officers. Police found the man at his residence doing fine, but he was transported to an area hospital.
  • 7:13 p.m. - A theft in progress was reported at Walmart. A man allegedly concealed an iPad and walked out the store without paying for it.  Arrested was Jason Carrion, 35, on suspicion of theft. Carrion was cited and released.
