Top 10 Baby Names of 2011

Babycenter.com reveals the most common baby names of 2011.

Top 10 Baby Names of 2011

New parents for the most part, stuck to familiar names in 2011, with last year’s most popular names for boys and girls – Aiden and Sophia – continuing to dominate new birth certificates.

Parenting website www.babycenter.com released its annual list of the 100 most popular baby names, and there was little change from last year.

There were no, shall we say unique, celebrity-inspired names on the list, such as Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s son Moroccan Cannon, or Alicia Silverstone and husband Christopher Jarecki’s little boy Bear Blu Jarecki.

But boys’ name Mason is climbing the charts, as is Liam and Emmy for girls.

On the strength of the mega-popular Twilight series, names Isabella and Bella continued in popularity. But Team Jacob may have won over this time, with Jacob sitting firmly in the top 10 for boys, while Edward was nowhere to be found on the list.

Once popular and common names such as Jennifer, Jessica, Mark and Peter didn’t even crack the top 100.
