Woman Reportedly Attacked In Front of Home

Police are investigating a reported attack in the 200 block of West Carter Drive Wednesday night.

The woman was unharmed, but shaken up after a man wearing a dark hoodie came up behind the victim, allegedly choked her and threw her to the ground, police said. Officers are unclear as to a possible motive for the attack, which happened in a well-lit area.

Officers were called by the victim around 10:34 p.m. The woman reportedly arrived home and was removing groceries from her vehicle when the man came up behind her and attacked, said Lieutenant Joe Ward. The woman screamed and also dropped her purse during the incident. Nothing was reported stolen.

The suspect reportedly took off running in the direction of Carter Drive and Vermont Avenue.

Two men in the area reportedly witnessed a white 90s model Toyota 4-Runner leave north on Vermont at a high rate of speed, but it is unknown if the truck was involved.

Officers searched briefly with the help of a helicopter, but the suspect was not found.
