The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office arrested five individuals allegedly connected with an escape attempt from a juvenile correctional facility in La Honda on Tuesday night, the agency announced this morning.

Deputies were dispatched to the Log Cabin Boys Ranch at approximately 10:11 p.m. to respond to a report of two juveniles escaping the facility in what was described as a dark-colored Buick Park Avenue with 22-inch wheels. The car was reported to be moving at high speed.

While en route to the ranch, deputies passed a vehicle matching the description of the car. After stopping the car, they found the two escapees and three adult females.

Staff from the Log Cabin Boys Ranch positively identified the escapees at the location where the car was stopped.

Deputies arrested all five individuals in the car.

The two juveniles, both 17 years old and originally from San Francisco, were charged with violation of 871(a) Welfare and Institution Code: Minor Escape from Custody and Penal Code Section 182: Conspiracy. Both were booked into the San Mateo County Youth Service Center.
