They Caught Them! Alleged HMB Jewelry Thieves Nabbed Across The Country

HALF MOON BAY, CA- Two out-of-towners believed responsible for robbing a local jewelry store have been arrested– on the other side of the country, police reported Wednesday.

According to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, 25-year-old Jebediah Deangelis of New York and 24-year-old Kevin Malone of Florida entered the Goldworks jewelry store on Main Street in Half Moon Bay on Feb. 8, brandished a hand gun and stuffed jewelry into a black bag before fleeing.

On Friday, officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department stopped a vehicle for code violations, and noticed that the vehicle matched a description put out by San Mateo County authorities, according to the sheriff’s office.

“During the investigation of the car stop IMPD located a weapon and other evidence directly connecting them to the Goldworks robbery,” sheriff’s officials said in a news release. “Malone and Deangelis were detained and verified to be the wanted suspects involved.”

The two men were arrested and are in the process of being extradited to San Mateo County to face local charges, according to police.

“The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office wants to thank the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department for their professional assistance in capturing two wanted felons,” the sheriff’s office said. “This is another great example of law enforcement working together for the benefits of our communities.”
