Cloverdale Teacher's Aide, 63, Arrested on Sexual Assault Charges

Cloverdale Teacher's Aide, 63, Arrested on Sexual Assault Charges

A teacher's aide from Cloverdale was in jail today following his arrest Wednesday night on charges of sexual assault with a juvenile victim, according to a release for the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office.

On Wednesday night, at approximately 11 p.m., detectives from the Sonoma County Sheriff's Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Unit responded to the Cloverdale area regarding a report of a sexual assault involving a juvenile victim.

The October 10 charge was originally reported to the Cloverdale Police Department, but its investigation was turned over to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office when it was learned the crime occurred within the Sheriff's jurisdiction.

During this investigation 63-year old Dyke Dewitt of Cloverdale, a high school teacher's aide with the Cloverdale Unified School District, was identified as the suspect. Dewitt was arrested at his residence by detectives and booked into the Sonoma County Jail on four felony charges involving sexual misconduct with a juvenile.

His bail is set at $145,000.

A search warrant was later served at the suspect's Cloverdale residence where items of evidence were located and collected for further examination.
