There is a lot going on at the High School, as the seniors near graduation, the hunt for a career and seek scholarships.

  • Mar.25-29 Spring Break- No Classes

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Host Families Needed- Open your home to an international high school student this summer and bring a unique cultural experience to your family! Host families provide room, board and a loving environment for 26 days. Students from Italy, Spain, Norway and Sweden will be in Healdsburg from June 26th-July 22nd. GRADUATION CELEBRATION - Senior Parents, please turn in your student's registration form for the Graduation Celebration at the student store. Scholarships are available. An awesome event is in the works! Underclass Parents: The next planning meeting is March 5 at 7:00 in room 44. We would love for you to join us!

Senior Graduation Announcements- Parents of Seniors should have received a notice from Josten's with information and Order Form for Graduation Announcements. For those that still need to order , the deadline is April 1, and information can be found at: www.northcoastgrad.com. Counseling Corner- If you want to continue to be excited and see where our seniors may go to college, please read this week's newsletter. Also listed are a number of options for GAP years, SRJC news updates and the benefits of a vocational education. Please go to the counseling web page on the HHS website and click on guidance newsletters. You may see your son or daughter's name in print.

CAREER CENTER

The next two Career Panels will be Sales & Marketing and Public Safety. Both are sure to be excellent, so sign up early to reserve your space.

Sign up sheets will be on the bulleting board in Counseling.

Students - did you know there's a bulletin board in the counseling area with job listings, internships, and community service opportunities? Right now we have a job listing for a helper at a local automotive center. Keep checking if you're looking for spring and summer positions.

Seniors - The following scholarships have deadlines coming up in the next ten days: HUSD Common Application, Ella Memorial, Starving Students, Vineyard Plaza, MLK Jr., PG&E Bright Minds, Buick Achievers, Order of the Sons of Italy, and AIA Redwood Empire. Scholarship Sonoma County online applications must be completed by March 2.

There are new scholarships arriving daily. If you're a golfer, a female interested in engineering, an ag/4H person, someone interested in an architecture-related field, or someone with a parent or grandparent who served during the Vietnam War, check out the boxes outside the Career Center.

STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Coming to a Black Box near you, Zephyr from the Sun, Floral, Tricky Dick & the Hooligans, Seed, Raveyard and special guests on Friday March 1st from 7 -10. Tickets on sale now in the student store for $3. $5 night of the show if there are any left.

Volunteers from the Americorps organization will be on campus at lunchtime next Tuesday, 2/26. They'll have information about jobs for graduating seniors, volunteerism opportunities, and ways to make money for college.

Cocoa for Carpooling is next Wednesday. Here's what you do. Carpool to school with friends, take a picture with your phone, come to the Progressive Table by the office, and get your free cup of fair trade chocolate. Bikers and boarders show us your wheels for verification. All are invited to participate.

SENIORS ONLY

Please remember to turn in your Community Service hours to the counseling department. This is a graduation requirement.

If you're interested in any of the 27 SSC scholarships, you're invited to sign up for a workshop where you'll actually open and begin the online application. The workshops are next Tuesday, 2/26, during periods 2, 4, and 5. Sign-up sheets are on the Career Center door.

The Redwood Empire Tall Club scholarship forms have arrived. Girls 5'10" and taller, guys 6'2" and taller - the forms are in the "Varies" box and are due March 12.

The Interact Club will meet on Monday in Room 19. All are welcome.
