Two Motorists With Past License Suspensions Arrested For DUI

Two Motorists With Past License Suspensions Arrested For DUI
Two drivers, one from Healdsburg, with past license suspensions were arrested in Santa Rosa on Wednesday and Thursday for DUI, the California Highway Patrol said.

Hector Moreno, 28, of Santa Rosa, was arrested Wednesday after an off-duty San Francisco police officer called the CHP around 6:10 p.m. to report a possible drunk driver, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.

CHP officers saw Moreno's Ford Ranger pickup weaving across all lanes of northbound U.S. Highway 101 at Todd Road, Sloat said. Moreno's blood-alcohol level was approximately three times the legal limit to drive, and a records check determined his driver's license had been suspended since 2008 for a previous DUI conviction, Sloat said.

He was booked into Sonoma County Jail for DUI and driving on a suspended license. CHP officers patrolling Santa Rosa Avenue around 1:50 a.m. Thursday saw a Volkswagen GTI driving 60 mph in a 35 mph zone, Sloat said.

The officers followed the vehicle east on Bennett Valley Road and contacted the driver on Brookwood Avenue. Kyle Dewitte, 22, of Healdsburg, appeared intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests, Sloat said.

Dewitte's license had been reinstated in January after multiple suspensions for traffic violations, and he was booked into county jail for DUI, Sloat said.
