Power Outages Plague Highland Park

Many residents are still without power as of Sunday at 10:30 p.m, and LADWP says to expect another 10 hours for electricity to be restored.

Highland Park residents were frustrated by a series out power outages on Sunday, as many of them were still in the dark as of 10 p.m.

A customer service representative told Patch that the outages was caused by a transformer fire, and that residents should expect electricity back by 3 a.m., at the latest.

However, at 10:30 p.m., LADWP told residents no to expect a full restoration of power for another 10 hours.

"Hang in there. Our crews are working. Current est 10hrs for full restoration," @LADWP tweeted.

According to Twitter reports from Highland Park residents, the power went out at about 3:30 p.m. in the Garvanza area, came back at 8 p.m. for about an hour, and then went out again.

Street lights were non-functional at the corner of Avenue 58 and North Figueroa Street, while only one block west at Avenue 57 lights and traffic signals were functioning as usual.
