Traffic Impact: York and Figueroa Roadwork Resumes Monday

The Los Angeles Department of Public Works on Monday resumed construction on a sewer rehabilitation project that is expected to impact traffic around the intersection of York Boulevard and North Figueroa Street for two-and-a-half months.

According to the Department of Public Works, most of the work will take place on York Boulevard between Hamlet Street and North Figueroa Streets.

The $2.24 million DPW project will will construct a new relief sewer from Arroyo Glen Street to Meridian Street, according to the DPW website.  The relief sewer will connect to the Avenue 45/Arroyo Drive Relief Sewer and consists of installing 0.70 mile of 15 to 21-inch sewer. The sewer will relieve capacity for the 8 and 12-inch sewer along Figueroa Street between Marmion Way and
Meridian Street.

Construction hours will be between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The following traffic and and parking restrictions will be in place while construction is ongoing.

York Boulevard:

1. Primarily one lane in each direction between Avenue 64 and Outlook Avenue

2. The Krail area will be concentrated in the middle of York Boulevard between North Figueroa and Hamlet Streets

3. 'No Right Turn' signs posted for westbound York Boulevard into northbound North Figueroa Street

4. 'No Left Turn' signs posted for westbound York Boulevard into southbound North Figueroa Street and for eastbound York Boulevard into northbound North Figueroa Street

Figueroa Street

1. Northbound: Restricted to one lane from the railroad crossing at South Avenue 61 to Garvanza Avenue

2. Southbound: Restricted to one lane at Garvanza Avenue, then become two lanes--one right turn lane and one through lane--to the intersection with York Boulevard. Two lanes remain open southbound past the intersection with York Boulevard.

3. The Krail Area in the middle of Figueroa from Piedmont Avenue to the right turn lane into York Blvd.

4. 'No Left Turn' signs posted for northbound North Figueroa Street into westbound York Boulevard and for southbound North Figueroa Street into eastbound York Boulevard

Parking Restrictions:

York Boulevard: 'No Stopping' signs will be posted between Avenue 63 and Outlook Avenue

Figueroa Street:  'No Stopping' signs will be posted northbound between South Avenue 61 to York Boulevard

Temporary 'No Street Parking' signs will be posted on both sides of York Boulevard. Any vehicles parked will be towed away at the owner’s expense.
