Acclaimed Pianist Settles with Egyptian Theatre for Freak Accident that Severed Her Fingertip
Pianist Lucinda Carver settled with the Egyptian Theatre after her fingertip was allegedly severed in a faulty bathroom door.

HOLLYWOOD, CA - An acclaimed pianist and the owners of the Egyptian Theatre settled a lawsuit stemming from the loss of the tip of her left middle finger, which she said was severed after being caught in a defective restroom door at the Hollywood venue.
Lawyers for Lucinda Carver filed court papers Thursday with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Howard Halm stating that the negligence/premises liability suit the plaintiff filed in June 2014 against the theater and American Cinematheque was resolved. No terms were divulged.
According to the lawsuit, the accident occurred when Carver attended a film screening at the theater at 6712 Hollywood Blvd. on April 11, 2014.

"(Carver) will never regain the full use of her left middle finger and will have permanent pain and numbness in that area," according to her court papers, which alleged the theater owners should have known about the restroom door and either fixed it or warned guests of the problem.
Carver has served as the music director and conductor of the Los Angeles Mozart Orchestra and been active in both the symphonic and operatic arenas, according to the laphil.com website.

She has conducted at major music festivals, including Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, Brooklyn Academy of Music's Next Wave Festival, and the Orange County Performing Arts Center's Eclectic Orange Festival.
The website of the USC Thornton School of Music says Carver "is a rare triple threat: a much beloved and highly acclaimed musician equally at home on the podium, at the keyboard, or in the lecture hall."
