"A lot of adult-rated DVDs" were stolen from Romantix in the 1100 block of Palm Avenue last week, said Sgt. Joel Stranger with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department Imperial Beach substation.

The burglary took place Jan. 24 when the store was closed between the hours of 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. and was discovered by an employee who came to open the store, Stranger said.

The burglar entered the store by forced entry through the back door, he said.

Specific titles of about $1,000 worth of stolen DVDs were not made available.

Local store employees declined to comment. A request for comment from Romantix headquarters in Denver, Co. was not returned by the time this story was published.

The Romantix burglary was one of multiple burglaries that took place in the past week or so.

A burglary was reported Jan. 22 at Pacific Realty at the corner of 3rd Street and Palm Avenue Windows were broken at the realty office between Jan. 18-21 caused an estimated $2,400 in damage.

"Nothing was actually taken. A burglary is an attempt to enter, but nothing was actually taken. The TV was visible from outside so that may have prompted them to enter," Stranger said.

A television worth an estimated $300 was reported stolen Jan. 27 from State Farm Insurance.

"A flat screen television right by the window [was taken], so we're thinking they popped in the window. Nothing else was touched," he said.

The incidents are not currently thought to be related, Stranger said.
