Learn About Grant Writing at SDSU

San Diego is home to hundreds of charitable nonprofit organizations ranging from large educational institutions and hospitals to small startups. All of these organizations must compete for funding in an increasingly challenging funding environment.

To meet the demand for people in search of these new funding opportunities, SDSU’s College of Extended Studies is offering its Professional Certificate in Grant Writing program exclusively online during the fall semester. An online program allows for more student enrollees than the traditional classroom and makes the program available to participants 24/7, wherever they have computer access.

This program appeals particularly to new grant writers, employees from nonprofit organizations, city and county governments, chambers of commerce, education (private and public), public health, and social work, as well as independent consultants and grant writers needing continuing education units.

To complete the certificate program, students must finish two courses: Introduction to Grants and Funding Research along with Grant Proposal Development. Program dates will be: Introduction to Grants and Funding Research (Sept. 9-Oct. 13) and Grant Proposal Development (Oct. 27-Dec. 8).

This program teaches comprehensive grant writing, research, and proposals to secure grants. Students learn the steps - from beginning to end - necessary to obtain grant funding.
