Drink of the Week: Raspberry Lemon Drop at Splashes Bar

The perfect light libation for an oceanfront setting.

Lightness is not usually a desirable trait in a drink, but for some reason, the Raspberry Lemon Drop, $12.50, at Splashes (the oceanfront bar at the Surf & Sand Resort) was a mild surprise.

The Raspberry Lemon Drop is made with:

Absolut Citron
Chambord
Triple sec
Sweet and sour mix
Lemon juice
Raspberry puree
Sugar rim

The Chambord comes forward first with a pleasant raspberry flavor. It mellows out the lemon juice and the Absolut Citron, so there’s very little of that sour bite found in most lemon drops. (Cynical drinkers might say our drink was a little watered down, but the ingredients seemed to be in the right ratios. )

A large part of drink at Splashes is the oceanfront setting. It’s one of those places you take relatives from landlocked states when you want to display the beach’s beauty. As such, the Raspberry Lemon Drop is a fitting drink for such a beautiful atmosphere.
