Laguna Beach High Class of 2011 Graduates!

The procession, the speeches, the diplomas! Patch got it all!

There was an excited buzz about the Irvine Bowl Thursday evening. Laguna Beach High School seniors were yelping with excitement, and their parents were exuding pride. After all, it was graduation day, and the commencement was underway.

Naturally, the tossing of the caps was amplified by a few impressive speeches made by some of the graduates. Valedictorian Bianca Sganga spoke quite eloquently about the Persian rug, comparing each of their lives to its threads. Stoic Sganga left her classmates with this closing thought: "I do hope that in our carpets, we will all see the threads of the gratefulness of our families, thankfulness for our friends, appreciation for our opportunities, humility for our mistakes, and excitement for continuing our adventures."

The senior address, given by lively Wyatt Fair, complemented Sganga's speech nicely. Fair spoke of his memories growing up in Laguna Beach, highlighting his friends and teachers who had an influence on him. “Our futures have been founded on these last four years, and we can thank our peers and staff for guiding our journeys,” said Fair—a thought that was the cornerstone of this year's graduation.
