Laguna Beach National Charity League Holds Its Debutante Ball

Story submitted by the Laguna Chapter of the National Charity League:

This past Saturday, the Laguna Beach Chapter of National Charity League, Inc. (NCL), a non-profit national organization of mothers and daughters who join together in community involvement, hosted its 24th Annual Debutante Ball located at the luxurious Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel in Dana Point.

Twenty-four outstanding young women were honored for their philanthropic and league service, which is the culmination of six years of commitment to serving the surrounding local communities that began when the girls were in seventh grade. These philanthropies include Special Camps for Special Kids, the J.F. Shea Therapeutic Shea Riding Center to Friendship Shelter, Orangewood, South County Senior Services and the Boys and Girls Clubs, to name a few. On an annual basis, the over 300 Laguna Chapter members contribute on average nearly 12,000 philanthropic hours to the Orange County community.

“Through the mother-daughter relationship, National Charity League develops strong women leaders serving and impacting communities today and for generations to come,” said Janan Pisano, president of the National Charity League - Laguna Beach Chapter. “After their six years of philanthropy work, these girls develop a life-long dedication to serving others.  For example, one of our past debutantes pursued a career in medicine specializing in treating children with brain disorders, which was inspired by her many years in NCL as a counselor for Special Camp for Special Kids.”

The young girls returned to Orange County from various universities and colleges to be presented to society at a formal ball with their family members and friends, dressed in traditional, white ball gowns. The NCL Laguna Chapter class of 2012 Debutante honorees included: Misses Jacqueline Adams, Bridgette Alvarez, Alaina Arthur, Katie Bick, Tara Rose Cassano, Zoe Chichelo, Jordan Davis, Marley Donenfeld, Eden Frost, Olivia Fuchs, Sarah Gleason, Amanda Graceffa, Matilda Keane, Katie Keith, Monika Laird, Samantha Larsen, Allison Leibold, Melena Masson, Brynne McGovern, McCaully Patch, Emma Plotnik, Meredith Randol, Taylor Rudaitis and Nina Thornton.

To join NCL, mothers are able to apply for membership in September of their daughter’s sixth grade year in school.
