Moulton Parkway reopens five hours after a Monday accident that left a woman critically injured.

UPDATE: Driver Released in Pedestrian Crash, SigAlert Lifted

A five-hour SigAlert that closed Moulton Parkway after a female pedestrian was struck in a crosswalk was lifted around 8 p.m. Monday, officials said.

The 43-year-old pedestrian, who suffered head trauma and leg injuries, was listed in critical condition at Mission Hospital. The driver of the car that hit her, a 45-year-old man, was released as authorities continued investigating the accident, officials said.

The driver's left arm was injured in the crash, but he's now OK, according to Lt. Steve Gil of the Orange County Sheriff's Department. And the motorcycle deputy who crashed into a patrol car at the scene has been released from the hospital, Gil said.

The accident occurred around 2:45 p.m. when the southbound car hit the westbound pedestrian as she crossed Moulton at Aliso Niguel, officials said. A SigAlert was issued shortly after.

No names were released.
