New Rehabilitation Center For Abused Opens in La Jolla

La Jolla-based Practical Recovery opened women's-only rehabilitation home

On Sept. 22, Practical Recovery opened a women’s-only rehabilitation home in San Diego.

The Restoration Inn offers specialized treatment surrounding relationship abuse (including domestic violence, sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse) and substance use disorders.

The women’s-only rehab is one of the few facilities of its kind in the country to offer trauma informed treatment for women from a self-empowered perspective.

What does domestic violence have to do with alcoholism, addiction and recovery?

Women who are in abusive relationships often turn to alcohol and drugs to self-medicate, thus the spiral downwards accelerates. The new facility teaches women skills to identify behavior patterns and set boundaries so that they don’t revert back into an abusive relationship.
