A week after an alleged kidnapper attempted to abduct a 15-year-old girl as she walked home from Lakeside High School, another child annoyance incident is being reported and police have not ruled out that the suspects in both cases may be the same man.

Wednesday deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station received a report about a 13-year-old girl who, on May 1, was walking home from a school bus stop in Lakeland Village. As she made her way in the area of Laguna Avenue and Washington Street, she was allegedly harassed by a suspect driving a blue vehicle that may be the same blue Honda Accord described in the April 25 attempted kidnapping. Although this week’s incident took place Tuesday, the victim’s mother did not call police until today when she saw a flyer about the similar April 25 attempt.

According to a news release from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station, during yesterday’s incident a man drove alongside the 13-year-old and asked if she needed a ride home. The girl declined and became fearful as the man continued to drive alongside her, so she took her cell phone out of her purse to call her mother, according to the release.

“The driver told her to put the phone away and get in his car; the victim immediately ran away from the vehicle and to her residence where she advised a family member of the incident,” the police report stated.

The suspect in yesterday’s incident is described as a thin white male in his 30s, with a goatee, wearing a black tank top, silver earrings and a red bandana/scarf wrapped around his neck. A composite sketch (see attached) shows similarities to the man wanted in the April 25 incident, and police believe the suspect may possibly be the same man.

The investigation is continuing and the Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station is asking the public for information regarding these cases to contact Investigator Callahan or Investigator Beatty at (951) 245-3300 or after hours and on weekends at (951) 776-1099.
