City And Public Working To Clean Up Lake Elsinore

The "Clean Extreme" program kicks off Jan. 28 at the Elsinore Naval and Military School.

Lake Elsinore is touting a new program for 2011 that aims to clean up the city, but it won’t be successful unless local residents and businesses share in the effort, officials say.

“We’re trying to clean up the city. We need the public’s participation, too,” said City Manager Bob Brady.

The new “Clean Extreme” program will kick off Jan. 28 at 8 a.m. when volunteers and city officials turn out to haul trash and spruce up the area around the

Brady said there are plans to have two additional “Clean Extreme” events in 2011, but the schedule has not been set. He said he welcomes public input and is taking the names and numbers of those who want to lend a hand.

The Jan. 28 event will see many local organizations turn out, including , EcoPlanet, Lake Elsinore Rotary Club, CR&R Waste Services, the , and the to name a few, Brady said.

Brady said this month’s effort will be large scale, but future Clean Extreme events are still awaiting volunteer sign ups.

“We want the community to take ownership,” he said.
