Authorities have released the identities of those involved in

Lake Elsinore resident Wilber Jason Clark, 47, was killed after the car he was driving was hit by a truck driven by Moreno Valley teen, Kasanrah Nicholson, 18, the California Highway Patrol reported today.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:19 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of SR 74 and Riverside Street at the easterly edge of the Lake Elsinore city limits.

Eyewitnesses said Nicholson ran a red light at Riverside Street as she headed eastbound on SR 74, according to CHP.

Clark was making a left turn from Riverside Street onto westbound SR 74 when the gray 2007 Honda Accord he was driving was struck by the white 2004 GMC Sierra truck driven by Nicholson, CHP reported.

Clark was carrying one passenger, 44-year-old Phyllis Carpenter of Carson, who sustained major injuries in the crash.

Both victims were transported to Inland Valley Medical Center. Clark succumbed to his injuries there, according to CHP.

Nicholson sustained minor injuries and was transported to Kaiser Hospital in Riverside.

The CHP said today that the investigation into the crash is ongoing, but Nicholson is not suspected of driving under the influence.
