The Riverside County Fire Department reports the fire near Lake Elsinore was contained overnight to six acres.

Crews contained the blaze by 6 a.m.

According to fire reports, the dassignment consists of four engines, two handcrews, one water tender and one Incident Commander for a total of 44 firefighters.

More than 70 firefighters were battling a small, slow-moving brushfire above Lake Elsinore overnight Saturday.

The fire was reported around 10:15 p.m. Friday at the western end of the lake, Melody Hendrickson of CalFire said.

At 12:17 a.m., crews estimated the fire at six acres in size.

The fire was burning through heavy fuel, but no structures were threatened, Hendrickson said.

Though the fire was small in size, it could be seen throughout the area.

Crews from 13 engines, totaling 72 firefighters were assigned to the so-called Ortega incident, according to fire logs.
