A man suspected of severely beating an acquaintance in his Lake Elsinore-area home was being held without bail Tuesday.
Andy Dean Abegg, 32, was arrested Monday and booked on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly attacking the victim in the 28000 block of Red Gum Drive in the county area of Lake Elsinore, according to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Todd Torrenti.
Deputies were called to the rural property around 2:40 p.m. to investigate reports of an assault. When the patrolmen arrived, they discovered a man with life-threatening head injuries, Torrenti said.
The victim, whose name was not released, was transported to a hospital and remains in grave condition, according to sheriff's officials.
Abegg, who had been waiting in front of the house when deputies rolled up, was arrested on the spot, Torrenti said.
A possible motive for the attack was not disclosed, nor was the type of weapon used.
Abegg was being held at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta.
