As Halloween nears, some Lake Forest residents took their costumes for trial runs this weekend at two events held at Heritage Hill Historical Park: Friday night's Haunt at Heritage Hill and the Saturday afternoon Autumn Harvest Festival.

Patch reader Jim Rosenberg took this photograph at the Harvest festival, where many families donned costumes and children got a chance for some early trick-or-treating.

Take a photo of something interesting, intriguing, funny or poignant in Lake Forest, Foothill Ranch or Portola Hills and send it to me, sarah.decrescenzo@patch.com. I'll share the best snapshots with other Patch readers on the site as our Photo of the Day. Include your name and some information about the photo. The picture can be anything that strikes your fancy—a beautiful sunset, your dog's funny face, your beautiful rose garden or a killer action shot from a recent Little League game.
