Not Getting Your Mail? Moraga Police Issue Cautionary Warning

One local resident reported a total stranger put a hold on the household's postal deliveries.

News from the Moraga Police Department:

Recently, one of our residents realized that they were not receiving mail. When they called the Post Office, they found that a person, who was unknown to them, had placed a hold on their mail. The mail was to be held at the Post Office and picked up by this person. Luckily, our resident discovered this in time and no mail was lost or stolen.

Mail holds are a great tool when you are on vacation and don’t have anyone who can pick up the mail for you. Obviously, we also should have our mail forwarded if we are moving, are going to be away for an extended period, etc. However, this is a case where someone has taken advantage of a service that is provided to all of us to protect our mail.

If you find that you are not receiving your mail, immediately contact the Moraga Post Office and ascertain why. If your mail has been stolen or a fraudulent hold placed on your mail, please contact the Moraga Police and the Postal Inspectors immediately.

The Moraga Police Department wishes you and your family a safe and happy holiday season.
