Bunny Boy

Visits with my grandson...Number Twelve

It was a beautiful Easter Sunday as we arrived in Sacramento to spend the day with my 9 year old grandson, Evan, and family. Evan greeted me with a big hug and smile as we exchanged Easter baskets. He carefully explored each part of the basket’s contents and as he began to thank me for each item, he said, “I’m going to thank you for everything right now so I don’t have to thank you for each thing!” He then thanked me, gave me a big hug, then continued to explore his basket appreciating every little gift.

Then we went out to the backyard as he and his friend hunted for Easter eggs.  Dozens of eggs were frantically collected as their baskets were filled.

At one point Evan disappeared into the house then reappeared with a jar filled with coins and said, “Anyone can donate money to me!”  The jar remained in the center of the table and Evan would remind us from time to time to donate to him.  I called it the Evan Fund. When he was asked what the money was for, he said with a smile, “If I have an emergency or ever am desperate…”  I donated some coins and bills and later in the day he said, “Actually I am saving up for an iPod Touch!”

We all enjoyed a wonderful meal outside in the backyard. There was a lot of conversation and laughter as memories were being made. My husband and son entertained us with some live music as some of us played dominoes. Evan has quickly picked up the game of dominoes and was the winner.

Evan donned sunglasses that had bunny ears and teeth and posed for a picture with his egg filled Easter basket.  He proceeded to jump on the trampoline with his bunny sunglasses and created scenerios called, The Adventures of Bunny Boy. As he jumped and spun around the trampoline, he played different characters.  All the characters had super powers with good always defeating evil.

When it was time for us to leave there was conversation about the next time we would see each other. After warm hugs and kisses we left each other knowing that we would soon enjoy more fun times together.

Until next time, remember, it’s all “for the love of kids…”

In joy, Marilyn
