Car Crash Blamed for Power Outage

Wreck on Rosemond Avenue on Tuesday night causes homes in Greenbrae, Kentfield and San Rafael to lose electricity.

Car Crash Blamed for Power Outage

A few Pacific Gas and Electric customers in Greenbrae remained without power Wednesday morning after a driver struck a power pole in Kentfield on Tuesday night, she said.

Brittany McKannay of PG&E said the outage was caused by a driver running into a power pole at 15 Rosebank Avenue, not far from the junction of Wolfe Grade and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. Firefighters responded to the crash at about 6:30 p.m., and it was unknown if the driver was injured.

About 3,600 customers lost electricity from the crash. Outages were reported in Kentfield, Greenbrae, the Wolfe Grade area and the Gerstle Park neighborhood of San Rafael.

McKannay said it would be late Wednesday morning by the time repair crews finished installing a new power pole and hanging the power lines. She credited firefighters for clearing the area and maintaining safety before the PG&E repair crew arrived.
