Fire Damages Big-Rig Full of Clothes and Shopping Bags
Between the tractor fire, a gravel spill in Dublin and BART delays in East Bay, Tuesday's commute was miserable for many in Tri-Valley.

A big-rig full of clothing and shopping bags caught fire early Tuesday morning in unincorporated Alameda County east of Livermore near Interstate Highway 580, according to firefighters.
Just after 5 a.m., firefighters responded the vicinity of Highway 580 and North Flynn Road where a tractor fire had apparently spread to the trailer.
Emergency crews extinguished the fire after cutting holes in the roof and side panels of the trailer with chainsaws. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Late Monday night, at 11:39 p.m., the California Highway Patrol first received a report of the gravel spill on the highway’s westbound lanes in Dublin, according to CHP officials. At 3:16 a.m., Caltrans closed two of the lanes, as crews waited for a front loader truck to arrive to remove the gravel, CHP officials said.
At 4:46 a.m., the CHP issued a Sig-alert, closing three of the highway’s lanes, according to the CHP. At the time, the CHP estimated the lanes would be closed for about two hours.

A power issue on the BART tracks was reported just before 6 a.m. Tuesday and caused delays for commuters on the Fremont and Dublin/Pleasanton lines.
