Firefighters Extinguish Truck Fire on Highway 84 Monday

Fire officials said the semi-truck was a total loss.

LIVERMORE, CA: Firefighters made short work of a truck fire reported on Highway 84 Monday night, according to a tweet from the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department.

The burning semi-truck was reported on Highway 84 south of Livermore at 9:37 p.m., Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Battalion Chief Michael Miller said. According to Miller, the tractor was fully involved and had started to spread to the trailer when crews arrived.

“The fire was quickly knocked down and crews remained on scene for another 50 minutes to overhaul and complete extinguishment,” Miller told Patch. “The trailer was empty and the tractor was a total loss.”

According to Miller, California Highway Patrol officers closed Highway 84 for about 30 minutes due to the fire. Firefighters from Alameda County Fire helped battle the blaze. No one was injured and the exact cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
