I-580 Car Fire Spreads Overnight, Sparks Brush Fire
The family escaped their SUV before it caught fire and spread, firefighters said.

LIVERMORE, CA — An I-580 car fire spread into vegetation early Thursday morning in unincorporated Alameda County, near Livermore.
The family escaped the car before it went up in flames, Alameda County Fire said Thursday morning.
The fire was reported around midnight and spread into the center median in the area east of Greenville Road. The fire grew to a quarter-acre and was contained at a half-acre, according to Alameda County Fire.

The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department also battled the blaze.
Two lanes were shut down for about an hour as firefighters worked.
