Brush Fire Burns Near Pomona (60) Freeway In Diamond Bar Area

A brush fire apparently sparked by a big rig shut down two lanes of the Pomona (60) Freeway in the Diamond Bar area Monday.

DIAMOND BAR, CA — Firefighters Monday worked to extinguish a brush fire on a hillside north of the westbound Pomona (60) Freeway in the Diamond Bar area.

The blaze, apparently sparked by a big rig fire, was reported near Phillips Ranch Road about 11:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Water-dropping helicopters were sent to the scene.

The Nos. 3 and 4 lanes of the westbound 60 Freeway were closed as a precaution while firefighters worked to extinguish the flames and prevent them from spreading to nearby homes.
