Crash Flips Car Upside-Down Near Los Al, Seal Beach Border

Neither driver showed signs of injury, authorities said.

Crash Flips Car Upside-Down Near Los Al, Seal Beach Border

A high-speed crash left a black Toyota upside-down on a Seal Beach street this week, but authorities reported no signs of injury on either driver.

The man driving the Toyota had been speeding southbound on Seal Beach Boulevard when he collided with a BMW near the northern tip of the city Monday afternoon, according to Sgt. Steve Bowles with the Seal Beach Police Department.

The man tried to avoid the BMW -- which had stopped at a signal -- but hit it anyway, sending the Toyota veering off, Bowles said. Officers believe the Toyota may then have hit a curb near the Mobil Gas Station at 2240 Seal Beach Boulevard, which may have launched the Toyota through the air and upside-down, Bowles said.

“It looked a lot worse than it was ultimately,” said Bowles, who said neither driver reported any injuries.

Officers are working on the police report on the crash, but, Bowles said, there would probably be no investigation because the Toyota driver showed no signs of intoxication or drug use after the incident.

Mia Lee, a Patch reader first alerted Patch of the incident Monday, and  sent in the picture of the collision.

On scene, Lee said she’d seen three plainclothes officers, an SBPD Car and motorcycle officer on scene.

“The traffic was stopped going south bound at Plymouth Street,” Lee said. “As a resident that lives near, we did not here any sirens or loud bangs.”
