Los Alamitos Brush Fire Caused 605 SIG Alert Thursday

A small brush fire in the Los Alamitos area of 605 northbound and Katella caused a SIG alert today.

LOS ALAMITOS, CA — A small brush fire caused a SIG alert on the Northbound 605 Freeway today, closing the #4 lane according to the CHP. The fire broke out on the 605 Northbound just north of the Katella on-ramp, CHP officer Anthony Latosquin said.

"At 12:30 p.m. Thursday, LACC received a call of smoke sighted on the northbound 605 in the Katella area on the right shoulder," he said. "There was another incident on the opposite side of the freeway at the same time, where a car fire was reported."

Orange County Fire Authority units from both Cypress and Seal Beach, and a battalion chief responded to the scene according to OCFA Lt. Holiday.

"Units got it knocked down in under 10 minutes, handled quickly," Holiday said.

The SIG alert began just before 1 p.m. and lasted through 1:30 p.m. when CHP closed the incident.

The cause of this fire was not disclosed at time of report. There were no injuries reported in this brush fire.
