Reports of Spousal Abuse Spike

Last week, Los Alamitos Police dealt with an unusual spike in domestic violence reports.

Reports of Spousal Abuse Spike

In a city fortunate enough to have a crime rate as low as it is in Los Alamitos, it doesn’t take much to cause a spike in crime. Overall, crime in the city is down this year, and it is not uncommon for there to be no assaults reported in a given week.  So it’s noticeable that police had their hands full last week with four separate reports of domestic violence.

Four men were arrested on suspicion of spousal abuse, and one man was arrested on suspicion of spousal abuse and child abuse.

For anyone struggling with domestic violence or related issues, the county offers a 411-like service designed to connect people with the nonprofits and social services that best meet their needs. Just call 211.
