A judge ruled that the little boy whose father is charged with murdering his mother and seven others in Salon Meritage can live with his sister instead of the alleged shooter's mother.

Sister Gets Custody of Child at the Center of Salon Shootings

The little boy his mother and seven others in Salon Meritage last year will get to live with his adult sister, a judge ruled Friday.

For the last six months, the boy has been at the center of a between his sister Chelsea Huff, 25, and the mother of alleged salon shooter Scott Dekraai, Michelle Hinmon.

The eight-year-old lost his mother Michelle Fournier in the Oct. 12 massacre and has been living with Huff, Fournier’s daughter, ever since.

As The Orange County Register reported,

“Chelsea Huff broke out in a big smile when she heard the judge's words Friday: "Congratulations, you are officially Dominic's guardian." … But other issues remain, including whether Dekraai's mother will have visitation rights with her grandson...Immediately following the conclusion of the hearing, Hinmon approached Huff: "Congratulations. I know you'll do a good job."

According to the Register, Huff’s family is adamant that the little boy is never taken to the jail to visit his father.
