Kris Wang Announces Candidacy for County Supe

officially announced Friday her candidacy for a seat on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.

Wang, who termed out as Cupertino City Councilmember, had filed an intent to run but until now was reluctant to declare a formal run saying she was still in the “exploration” phase.

"After a great deal of encouragement from family and community leaders, I am excited for the opportunity to represent the cities of Cupertino, Saratoga, Monte Sereno, West San Jose, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Los Altos, and Los Altos Hills at the county level,” Wang said in an announcement.

Wang’s announcement follows Cupertino Councilman .

The two Cupertino residents challenge  (D-Cupertino) who is also running for the District 5 seat being vacated by the termed-out Liz Kniss.

Kathleen King, a former Saratoga mayor, is among a handful of candidates running.

Wang was twice mayor of Cupertino—in 2007 and 2010—and has served on a long list of boards and commissions including chair of the Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Commission, vice chair of Santa Clara County Valley Transportation Agent Advisory Board, vice chair of Santa Clara County Recycling Waste and Reduction Commission, member of the Revenue and Taxation Policy Committee, member of the Environmental Quality Policy Committee, member of the League of California Cities, and member of the US Army North California Advisory Board.
