Amour d’Art of Los Gatos announces a new addition to the Disney family, artist Heather Theurer, whose first collection of limited edition artwork for Disney Fine Art by Collectors Editions is already garnering positive support from collectors, critics, and Disney fans.
The Beginnings of a Passionate Artist’s Career
Heather Theurer didn’t arrive at her art career through a traditional fine arts school or structured training, although she carefully watched the world and people and the composition of textiles as long as she can remember.
Ever since preschool, Heather knew she wanted to be an artist. It was her father who taught her the most valuable lesson -- to observe.
Growing up in Paradise, Utah, she learned to observe the sunrise, her surroundings, the natural environment, and the movements and expressions of people and animals.
She has been observing the world around her and patching together every scrap of knowledge she’s garnered along the way for decades.
Although faced with the challenge of painting amidst a family of five children in bustling Las Vegas, she has managed to construct a successful career as an artist with awards and recognition from reputable organizations including: Spectrum; Artist’s Magazine; and Art Renewal.
Her paintings are collected and shared worldwide, and she has garnered media attention from the likes of The Los Angeles Times and USA Today. Now she is welcoming a new challenge: taking one of her earliest influences and translating it into a career with the Disney Fine Art family.
Disney Influences Appear on the Canvas
The wonder and magic of Disney films in particular have excited a great deal of passion in Heather’s life, and now she is bringing this passion to her new role as a Disney artist.
Throughout the decades, Heather has cultivated ideas from elements of Disney films that have heavily influenced her work. Both the music and imagery of the Disney universe have helped her create new worlds from the worlds presented in these magical films, combining realism with fantasy in bold new ways.
Though she has left the crisp air, grassy lawns and struggles of a farming life in Utah behind, she also continues to draw inspiration from her background. Now, she shapes hew narratives that combine personal experience with a vivid imaginary realm.
“I don’t necessarily want the viewer to have the same response to my painting as I have,” says the artist. “Instead, my hope is that the expression I paint on the board through hours of observation and execution of detail will speak to them in a way that ignites thoughts and feelings unique to them.”
Amour d’Art is featuring several of Theurer’s limited edition artworks for the Disney Fine Art series by Collectors Editions.
