As part of the town’s 125th Jubilee Year celebration and the observance of our nation's 236th birthday, Boy Scout Troop 501 served as the Honor Guard during the poignant ceremony.

Dubois, a past lieutenant governor of Kiwanis, was tireless in support of many civic projects in Los Gatos, in particular the construction of the bandstand next to the 70-foot-tall flagpole, according to a press release issued by the club.

The effort was spearheaded by Los Gatos Councilmember Steven Leonardis, a member of the Kiwanis Club along with councilmember and former mayor Joe Pirzynski and Santa Clara County Supervisor Mike Wasserman, the release said.

Leonardis worked with town staff and former councilmember and past Kiwanis president MarLyn Rasmussen to rescue the flagpole from the old Honda dealership on Los Gatos Boulevard, the release stated.

A special thank you to Los Gatos residents Ira Spector and Shailesh Jain for sharing these beautiful photos with Los Gatos Patch.
