Malibu's newest bookstore, Bank of Books, is getting praise from outside the city's limits for its owner's out of the box thinking.

Clarey Rudd of Oxnard, who opened Bank of Books at the Point Dume Village on Heathercliff and Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu in July, is highlighted in a Los Angeles Times article on Wednesday.

The Times praises Rudd for catering to Malibu's book collecting crowd, especially for carrying a 1613 King James Bible, which is for sale for $48,500.

In the article, manager Ann Lambert Vannoy, a former Malibu teacher and current resident, said Rudd tries to match books with people.

"He's got a passion for books and a passion for matching people with the books they need. He's always thinking about that," said Lambert Vannoy told the newspaper. "I've never heard him complain. He's always just happy to be here."

The store has been highlighted several times on Malibu Patch, especially during the bookstore's week-long grand opening, which featured scores of local author readings and other events.
