Ocean Off MB Gets A, B and C Ratings

Two beaches in Manhattan Beach score A grades in water quality while one rates a B and another a C. Do you pay attention to such grades before heading into the ocean?

Ocean Off MB Gets A, B and C Ratings

If you're planning on getting into the ocean water off the Manhattan Beach shoreline, you might want to know the most recent grades for ocean water bacteria and quality.

According to Los Angeles County, the waters off the county beach in front of the 28th Street storm drain in MB are rated a C in a water test taken on Friday, April 6. However, even with the C rating, all water off MB meets county standards.

As you might expect, water 50 yards south of the 28th Street storm drain has been affected, receiving a B rating. Storm drains often bring pollution to the beach and ocean. The other two beaches in MB, tested near 40th Street and just south of the MB Pier, received A ratings, the best possible.
