12 Rescued Off Santa Monica Bay After Boat Nearly Sank

The boat, which had only its bow out of the water at one point, was towed back into the marina, where crews were working to dewater it.

MARINA DEL REY, CA - Twelve people were rescued Sunday after the 30- foot power boat they were aboard took on water and nearly sank off Dockweiler State Beach near Marina del Rey.

Lifeguards were notified of the distressed craft just before 5 p.m., according to Kyle Peters, supervising dispatcher with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The boat, which had only its bow out of the water at one point, was towed back into the marina, where crews worked to dewater the vessel, Peters said. The rescued boaters were taken to the sheriff's Marina del Rey Station.

No injuries were reported, Peters said.
