DA Won't File Charges Against Martinez Woman Who Shot Man In Fiance Brawl

The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office has declined to file charges against a woman arrested Saturday after she shot a man.

MARTINEZ - The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office has declined to file charges against a woman arrested Saturday after she shot a man who was fighting her fiancé in Martinez.

Dawn Iverson, 46, of Martinez, allegedly used a pistol to shoot her fiancé's adversary, who was hospitalized but was said to be in stable condition, according to police.

Iverson was initially arrested and booked into Martinez Detention Facility after an incident that began at 8:32 a.m. Saturday in the 700 block of Shell Avenue.

Iverson's fiancé was allegedly involved in a brawl with another man that broke out after an argument between several people, police said.

Police said that the men fell into a plate glass window during the fight, which shattered the window and cut them.

Iverson then intervened by shooting the other man, police said.

Police arrested Iverson on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

The district attorney's office reported Wednesday that the case had been reviewed but that no charges were being filed against Iverson at this time.
