Helen’s Hope for Homeless Animals:

Lending a helping hand to Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA.

Helen’s Hope for Homeless Animals:

Helen Horangic is a 10 year old 5th grade student in Menlo Park, CA and a tireless and passionate advocate for neglected and needy animals of all kinds.

Because Helen is still too young to volunteer with any local animalrescue agencies, Helen decided to launch “Helen’s Hope for Homeless Animals” and conduct her own fundraiser to benefit the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA in Burlingame.

Helen initially set a goal for herself to raise $500 in cash donations for the shelter, and to acquire as many items as she could from their published wish list. She sent out an e-mail to family, friends, and members of the community, telling them of her passion and desire to help and asking for donations of money and / or supplies. In addition to her online campaign, she also prepared fliers and canvassed the local community door to door.

Helen’s Hope for Homeless Animals' first fundraiser has been a rousing success. Due directly to Helen’s efforts, $1,595 in cash donations was raised (some paid directly through the shelter’s website) and she has been able to source many of the supplies desperately needed by Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA (PHS/SPCA).

Helen will be presenting her check and supplies to PHS/SPCA on October 28. As well atthat time, she will receive a private tour of the Society's Tom and Annette Lantos Center for Compassion in Burlingame, the facility where all adoptable animals are housed.Helen’s Hope for Homeless Animals and her family gratefully thank you for your interest and support of this endeavor. Her greatest wish is to get the word out to one and all and to one day live in a world where no pet is homeless.
