Multi-Vehicle Collision Closed Highway 101

Witnesses said as many as four cars were involved.

Multi-Vehicle Collision Closed Highway 101

All lanes have reopened following a multi-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 101 North in Menlo Park this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP received a report of a solo collision at 5:07 a.m. and by 5:25 a.m. at least four vehicles were involved.

A severe traffic alert was issued for U.S. Highway 101, just north of Willow Road in Menlo Park at 5:38 a.m.  A white Toyota Camry collided with a grey Toyota Collola.

The roadway fully reopened to traffic at 6:25 a.m., according to the CHP. While some witnesses said as many as four cars were involved, that information conflicts with what CHP Officer Evans told Patch.

"There were two people involved and two good samaritans who stopped to help," Evans said.  One passenger was taken to Stanford Hospital with major injuries, citing pain to the chest, left hand, ankle, and hip.

Officers are still investigating what caused them to crash.
