Menlo Park’s City Council is discussing the termination of the city’s housing department to reduce operating costs.

The California Supreme Court said the governor can close the state’s redevelopment agencies earlier this year, a decision which will cost the city about $3 million.

Council discussed ways to offset that cost Tuesday night during their regular meeting. They did not take action, and will meet again in five days to continue studying the issue.
